6 Breezeblock Innovation Products Mukura BYOND

Create a seamless breezeblock design with the Mukura BYOND product line up, a breezeblock design innovation from Irianto Purnomo Hadi and Mukura Ceramics.

After discussing what Mukura BYOND is and the GDI Best 2021 award it has won, this time we will discuss the units from the series. What are they? And why is it called a new and unprecedented roster design innovation? Here are 7 units from the Mukura BYOND product line up.

  • Surface 9

With nine square holes, the Surface 9 is the base unit of Mukura BYOND. The size is like a general breezeblock/ventilation block, which is 20×20 cm with a thickness of 5 cm. There are 2 ways to install this ventilation block, the first is upright (square shape). Then, it can also be a diamond shape with the four corners facing up, down, right, and left.

  • Surface 3

The second unit, Surface 3 which looks like Surface 9 which is divided into 3. Yes, the purpose of this unit is to give more freedom to design the breezeblocks. It’s 6 cm wide, exactly one third of the Surface 9. So, this unit gives us the freedom to create installationss that are not multiples of 20 cm in size.

  • Triangle

This one is an isosceles triangle. Its function is to complete the diamond shape breezeblock installations (rotated 45°). However, Triangle can also complement a regular square installation. To be exact, to complete the corners of the installation. For example, in a place where the roof is sloping or diagonal.

  • Bent 75°

The next one, Bent 75° is a small curve, and as the name implies bends 75 degrees. Then, the motif is two columns of square holes. This is the first of the 3 special units. Why special? Because they add a three-dimensional element in Mukura BYOND. This three-dimensional element is an innovation that makes BYOND’s design new and different from the usual breezeblock.

  • Bent 90°

Similar to the Bent 75°, the Bent 90° is curved as well. The difference is that Bent is 90° wider than Bent 75°. So the motive is three columns of holes, not two. Just like the Bent 75°, this unit can also be used to create curved breezeblock installations.

  • Corner

Lastly, the Corner for right angles. From above, the shape of this unit appears to be angular. As the name implies, it’s to make a corner of the breezeblock installation. In other words, the installation can turn forwards or backwards, to the right or to the left.
