Mukura’s Custom Breezeblock Decorating Sarinah

Another proud achievement that Mukura granite ceramic breezeblock has been selected to collaborate with Biroe Architecture in decorating Sarinah. Mukura’s custom breezeblocks decorated the new Sarinah building which was officially open to the public on Monday, March 21, 2022.

Sarinah Department Store

Sarinah itself is a shopping center on Jalan M.H. Thamrin. It is also the oldest mall in Indonesia. In addition, the founder of the Sarinah mall was Soekarno himself, the first president of the Republic of Indonesia. Sarinah is a unique mall, because the purpose of the mall itself is as a center for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In other words, Sarinah mall is only to promote products made by Indonesian MSMEs.

The interior of the new Sarinah building in Jakarta

Various Indonesian traditional materials decorating Sarinah interior, such as rattan, wood, and breezeblock

This year, Sarinah is again open for public after years of renovation. With the theme “community mall”, Sarinah is a center for MSME businesses and local brands as well as a gathering place for the younger generation and community of young people. The slogan is “The Window of Indonesia”, so the interior style is modern and very Indonesian. The orange Diagrid breezeblock decorates each floor. Even though the breezeblock is granite, it looks like a red brick or terracotta ventilation block. The impression is very traditional Indonesian, so it fits well with the interior of the building that uses various local materials such as wood and rattan.

Mukura accepts requests of custom breezeblock, both in design and finishing. Ventilation block with a custom design has a motif (shape) that can be made according to your wishes. An example is the custom breezeblock at Tesate. In addition, there is also a custom finishing, namely the color and texture. Mukura can create a variety of colors, patterns, and breezeblock textures. For example, from marble motifs (marble), spots, to the texture of a granite ceramic breezeblock that resembles a concrete or brick breezeblock.

For this custom breezeblock at Sarinah, the design uses Diagrid, which is one of Mukura’s minimalist breezeblock from Designer’s Collection. The difference lies the in finishing, using a reddish-orange color, so the breezeblock looks like it is made of bricks. So yes, you can create your dream breezeblock with the world-class quality of Mukura’s granite ceramic breezeblock!
