Inilah penjelasan tentang arti carbon footprint, serta betapa pentingnya arsitektur yang ramah lingkungan di jaman sekarang.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Apa itu carbon footprint?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Arti istilah carbon footprint atau jejak karbon adalah total gas rumah kaca yang dihasilkan tiap individu, aktivitas, kegiatan, tempat, maupun produk.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Mengapa gas rumah kaca?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Gas rumah kaca (karbondioksida atau CO<sub>2<\/sub>) adalah gas yang berbahaya bagi alam. CO<sub>2<\/sub> yang menumpuk di bumi dapat merusak atmosfer, memperparah pemanasan global. Sehingga, bumi menjadi semakin panas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Dari mana gas CO<sub>2<\/sub>?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Hampir semua aktivitas manusia menghasilkan gas karbondioksida. Contohnya, saat bernafas, kita menghasilkan CO<sub>2<\/sub>, namun dalam jumlah sedikit. Gas tersebut banyak dihasilkan salah satunya dari kendaraan bermotor. Kemudian, proses ternak hewan dan bertani dalam skala besar juga menghasilkan karbon dioksida. Mulai dari membuat bahan dasarnya, memproses di pabrik, hingga distribusi ke konsumen dengan alat transportasi. Sehingga, bahan dan benda yang menghasilkan banyak karbon pada prosesnya adalah tidak ramah lingkungan. Alasannya, karena memiliki carbon footprint yang banyak. Bila kita memakai banyak benda dan bahan tidak ramah lingkungan tersebut, kita turut memperparah pemanasan global.<\/p>\n<p>Contohnya, lampu yang kita gunakan di rumah. Pembuatan bahan baku lampu pasti menghisilkan gas karbon. Begitu pula dengan proses mengantar bahan tersebut ke pabrik. Lalu, saat memproses bahan, mesin di pabrik akan menghasilkan gas tergantung dari bahan bakarnya. Kemudian, proses distribusi lampu yang sudah jadi menggunakan alat transportasi yang pasti menghasilkan polusi. Saat kita membeli dan menggunakan lampunya, kita membutuhkan listrik yang umumnya dari pembangkit listrik tenaga batu bara, yang menghasilkan sangat banyak gas CO<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Lantas, apa usaha kita?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Maka muncullah istilah arsitektur hijau, atau \u2018eco-friendly architecture\u2019. Ini bukan sebuah gaya arsitektur, melainkan paham untuk membuat arsitektur yang sebisa mungkin ramah lingkungan. Arsitektur ini selalu mencari bahan bangunan yang tidak memiliki banyak carbon footprint.\u00a0Selain itu, bangunan juga dibuat agar lebih ramah lingkungan dalam jangka panjang.
